As Owner and CEO of Homeland Security Careers, Kimberly Hessler has dedicated her career to coaching, training, and assisting military members and their families. She is a motivational speaker and certified Job and Career Transition Coach serving the military community for 25 years. Homeland Security Careers has capitalized on Kimberly’s vast knowledge of career transition to launch a full service website hosting webinars, forums and discussion threads on topics of interest to Homeland Security and Homeland Defense professionals.

Kimberly has 5,000 hours of facilitation all focused on career transition. Kimberly received her TAP certification from the National Veterans Training Institute at the University of Colorado’s National Learning Center and has facilitated over 5,000 hours all focused on career transition. She was recently selected by the institute to be the primary facilitator for their latest career transition training video. In conjunction with the Military Spouse Career Committee, she has also facilitated the Career Tracks Seminar for 2 ½ years. This award winning seminar is hosted by the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and is devoted to educating and empowering military spouses to embrace and pursue a mobile career. Calling on her own experience as a military spouse and her career coaching expertise, Kimberly has supported efforts to research, develop and implement the award winning Career Tracks Seminar. The best practice award was dedicated to the Career Tracks Seminar program from the United States Air Force in April, 2009.

Kimberly works closely with the Center for Homeland Security to develop an Education to Career program for Homeland Defense/Homeland Security degree programs. Kimberly also contributes her experience as a board member of Women In Defense Organization, representing her company Homeland Security Careers.

Homeland Security Careers is a unique organization providing group career coaching, education, and networking events for civilians and transitioning military interested in the Homeland Defense and Homeland Security Industry. You can witness the magic in events such as the monthly Military-to-Business (Mil²Biz) networking events; this venue provides networking opportunities for military members and their spouses to connect to local educational, volunteer and employment opportunities. Those interested in strengthening our nation’s security, learn where the careers in HS/HD are heading, what professional development strategies will open doors to those careers, and how to get involved have all turned to Kimberly and her company to learn and experience how “Homeland Defense and Homeland Security is so much more than gates, guns and guards.”.

Kimberly launched the inaugural HS/HD Career Summit on October of 2008. The HS/HD Career Summit was strategically held alongside the National HD/HS Symposium VI, and is continuing to be a collaborative effort between the National Homeland Defense Foundation and Homeland Security Careers®. This event allows participants to capitalize on the tremendous wealth of opportunities for professional development, networking and career planning.

Together with her strategic partners she hosts Homeland Security Career Summits to identify, attract and sustain a professional, highly educated, innovative and experienced workforce to meet the critical demands of homeland security and defense.

Outside the industry Kimberly dedicates her time acting as a board member for

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and as the Military Liaison for the Colorado Springs Festival of Lights Parade Board. Kimberly and her family are active members of the Colorado Springs community.
