Does my Career Summit Registration entitle me to unlimited entry into the NHDF Symposium VII?

NO - The NHDF Symposium VII is a related but separate event. To register for the NHDF Symposium VII, click HERE. HS/HD Career Summit II participants will however have exclusive access to the NHDF Symposium VII during timeframes woven into the HS/HD Career Summit II agenda. For full agenda click here

What is Homeland Security anyway?

Homeland security encompasses many different careers related to security, defense and emergency management in the homeland. Click HERE for an excellent article on what homeland security is.

I am planning on being employed before November 2009 should I attend?

YES - The HS/HD Career Summit II is a career conference focused on showcasing the myriad of careers in this emerging industry. With this focus you will have the opportunity to hear from experts in the field and visit with other industry experts during timeframes woven into the HS/HD Career Summit II agenda. There are several opportunities to interface with attendees of the National Homeland Security Homeland Defense Symposium VII

I am a few years out from retirement should I attend?

YES - The HS/HD Career Summit II will provide opportunities to explore the industry and allow you to discover areas in which you can gain more experience and education to keep you current and relevant while you prepare for your career change. This opportunity will provide insight into the industry and allow you to begin building your networking relationships in the HS/HD industry.

Who is sponsoring the HS/HD Career Summit?

The summit is a collaborative effort between the National Homeland Defense Foundation , and Homeland Security Careers. The Center for Homeland Security at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs is this years co-host.

Is the HS/HD Career Summit a job fair?

There is a component that is similar to a job fair, however, the HS/HD Career Summit II is a career conference. A career conference is designed to promote a specific career field. As such the HS/HD Career Summit II is designed to promote the Homeland Security Homeland Defense industry to a targeted audience. The conference will introduce military members, and others interested in HS/HD careers, to the myriad of educational and employment opportunities in this rapidly growing field. The benefits gained from attending this conference astounding.

Will I have a chance to meet and interview prospective employers?

Yes - All interactions when exploring the job market should be considered “informational interviews”. You may just have a chance to land an follow-on informational or job interview based upon this experience. At the HS/HD Career Summit II you will have multiple opportunities to speak with prospective employers.

These opportunities include:

  • Lunch Round Table Discussion with Homeland Security Careers alumni – November 9th
  • Lunch Round Table Discussion with HR professionals – November 10th

Can I attend the NHDF Symposium VII?

Yes – We are collaborating with the National Homeland Defense Foundation. Anyone wishing to attend Symposium VII in its entirety may do so on-line by registering and purchasing the Symposium VII tickets at the National Homeland Defense Foundation website and following the registration links.
